As an Art Therapist, you will use art media, imagery, and the creative process to help patients address social, emotional, psychological, and physical challenges. Collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team, you'll develop and implement comprehensive care plans that foster healing and personal growth. Through painting, collage, beadwork, and a wide range of creative materials, you'll empower patients to build coping skills, express themselves in new ways, enhance socialization, and support their overall well-being. A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. 1 weekend once per month will be required. A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide group and individual art therapy sessions to patients on various units within the main campus hospital.
- Evaluate patient's treatment needs, abilities and resources.
- Maintain confidentiality of patients, staff and hospital respecting patient's rights and dignity.
- Complete routine paperwork within prescribed time frames and accurately documents all pertinent and meaningful observations and information on appropriate forms.
- Attend and participate in designated plans of care team meetings concerning the patient and family, as appropriate.
- Adhere to general expectations for all employees in order that the program functions in an effective manner to meet the treatment needs of the patient.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Master's Degree in Art Therapy from a college or university program accredited by the American Art Therapy Association (AATA)
- Licensed Professional Art Therapist (LPAT) through the Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board OR Registered Art Therapist with Board Certification (ATR-BC) through the Art Therapy Credentials Board with LPAT within 90 days of hire
- Maintain de-escalation training, WELLE certification; must be obtained within the first 90 days of hire.
- Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via American Heart Association or Red Cross, certification training; must be obtained within the first 90 days of hire
- One year of experience in Art Therapy services in an inpatient hospital setting
- Consideration will be made for time spent in practicum
