Assistant Project Manager Facilities

Long Term Contract

Providence, RI

Position Summary:

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction and capital improvement projects. This includes new construction, renovations, retrofits, and repairs across facilities. The role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Coordination

  • Manage capital construction and remodeling projects.
  • Develop project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Monitor progress and ensure timely completion.

Contract & Vendor Management

  • Assist in selecting and negotiating contracts with architects, engineers, and consultants.
  • Administer contracts and observe work for compliance.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Apply district standards and ensure adherence to local and federal laws, codes, and regulations.

Budget Oversight

  • Develop and manage project budgets.
  • Ensure appropriate use of funds and cost control.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain project records and write administrative reports.
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders and regulatory agencies.

Technical Support

  • Stay current with construction processes, materials, and costs.
  • Support engineering and architectural solutions including space planning and equipment selection.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Independent decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of construction delivery methods (e.g., Design-Bid-Build, ProCore).

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in facilities or construction project management.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, scheduling, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in project management software and basic computer skills.
