Position Overview: 
Food Rescue Delivery Truck Drivers will assist in picking up and delivering surplus, soon-to-expire, or other donated food items from the wholesale market to our community partners. Drivers will primarily do deliveries in our 26-foot refrigerated straight truck where pallets of food donations are loaded via a loading dock and it is the driver's responsibility to safely unload the product at our partnered community organizations. Drivers' hours fluctuate depending on seasonal need and demand. Drivers are required to follow food safety protocols and deliver food to the designated community partner. Drivers will use our custom app to complete their scheduled deliveries. As a SE Food Rescue Delivery Truck Driver, you will be a regular face that our partners welcome and rely on!

Responsibilities:
  • Food Rescue Delivery Box Truck Drivers will assist in picking up prebuilt pallets and deliver them to our many community partners.
  • Delivery Truck Drivers will also be responsible for picking up bulk donations and delivering them to our warehouse space.
  • Drivers will primarily do deliveries in our 26-foot refrigerated straight truck where pallets of food donations are loaded via a loading dock and it is the driver's responsibility to safely load and unload the product using the truck's lift gate and pallet jack at our partnered community organizations. 
  • Experience using forklifts is preferred. However, Sharing Excess can provide forklift certification/training as well as riding pallet jack certification/training.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, as you will be the face and representative of our organization in the field.
  • You will be responsible for wrapping pallets and loading your pallets into Sharing Excess vehicles.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical and drug screening and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) 
  • 2+ years of professional driving experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Good vision, hearing, and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal communication
  • Excellent customer service
  • Great communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to follow food safety and preservation protocols 

Schedule : 5 days per week, 7:30am-3:30pm. Monday through Friday and Tuesday through Saturday schedules are available. The schedule may vary day to day depending on demand.

Compensation:
  • Compensation for this role is paid hourly starting at $22.00 per hour and commensurate with experience.
