Position Overview The Forensic Engineer will conduct forensic engineering investigations of buildings and other structures to address structural damage, roof damage, moisture intrusion, interior water damage, settlement, foundation problems, construction defects, building material failures, and storm‑related damage. Responsibilities Perform investigations and analyses of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters. Conduct forensic engineering investigations of buildings and other structures for a wide variety of problems including structural damage, roof damage, moisture intrusion, interior water damage, settlement and other foundation problems, construction defects, general building material failures, and storm‑related damage. Apply experience in all common types of forensic engineering investigations, especially water damage, to pinpoint cause, origin, and duration. Execute field investigations to determine causes and origins of construction defects or structural failures and envelope failures, and assess extent and repairability. Manage multiple projects, coordinating with other experts and supporting staff to produce client reports promptly. Prepare reports documenting causes of failure and/or damage. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred). A minimum of 1 year of Forensic Structural Engineering experience is required. Active PE license required. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification). Expertise in structural analysis software, BIM/CAD platforms, and building materials. Deep understanding of local, state, and national building codes and design standards. Strong client‑facing skills and ability to lead cross‑functional project teams. Proven ability to manage complexity, mentor others, and deliver technically sound solutions. Travel Requirements This position requires moderate travel, up to approximately 40% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on‑site work. Physical Demands & Work Environment Primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment. Involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and frequent communication via email, phone, and in‑person interactions. Requires regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and via virtual platforms. Physical demands may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
