About the Facility - Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) The CAVHS, a flagship Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare provider, is one of the largest and busiest VA medical centers in the country. Its two hospitals, located in Little Rock and North Little Rock, anchor a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services, ranging from disease prevention through primary care, to complex surgical procedures, to extended rehabilitative care.
This System serves as a teaching facility for more than 1,500 students and residents enrolled in more than 65 educational programs; its principal affiliate is the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Facility Address: 4300 W 7th St, Little Rock, AR 72205 Requirements (duties include, but are not limited to) - The Hospitalist is responsible for providing inpatient coverage for ICU/Telemetry, Medical/Surgical Unit, Psych Unit, and the Continuous Living Center (CLC).
- Must follow all established medication policies and procedures. They are not permitted to provide sample medications to patients.
- Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
- The Hospitalist is required to actively participate in the facility's Peer Review process.
- Shall participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings with committee participation as required by the VAMC Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee.
- Shall complete the appropriate QM/PI documentation related to all procedures, complications, and outcomes of examinations.
- Must adhere to all established patient safety and infection control standards of care.
- Obligated to report all events related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breaches of patient safety to the COR VA Safety Policy. Incidents should be reported within 24 hours, and the Patient Safety Report should be submitted to the COR, following up as required or requested.
- Must make every effort to prevent medication errors.
- The Hospitalist should take measures to prevent patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of care.
Qualifications - Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
- A clean, unrestricted license from any state is honored.
- Shall be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Must be graduated from an accredited medical school (either MD or DO)
- Completion of a Residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
