Overview TITLE: Leadership Development Coach

JOB PROFILE: AALEAP3E

DEPARTMENT: Booth Leadership development for MBA Programs Chicago, IL GENERAL SUMMARY: The Leadership Development Office (LDO) for MBA Programs oversees a portfolio of developmental programs at the Hyde Park and downtown Chicago campuses at the Booth School of Business. This includes an experiential class (LEAD) required of all MBA students. Other program offerings for the LDO include experiential workshops and coaching to further MBA students’ leadership development. The LDO serves full-time, evening, and weekend students, and partners with colleagues to serve executive MBA students. Each Coach plays a role in designing and managing particular programmatic offerings. Additionally, each Coach supports the full complement of programs through activities such as individual and team coaching and workshop facilitation. Finally, each Coach owns a set of administrative responsibilities necessary to the success of the LDO. Coaches are a part of a team that collectively manages all office activities. Offerings: This role could support leadership coaching for classes, leadership skills workshops, student leadership retreats, laboratory classes for student facilitators, and LEAD class modules for full-time, evening, weekend, and executive MBA students. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Designs and manages specific developmental programs, such as skills workshops and supports the smooth and successful operation of programs run by other LDO colleagues. This includes understanding the MBA student learning needs and aspirations, understanding the LDO mission and metrics for success, creating and implementing developmental programming that facilitates students’ growth as leaders, promoting programs to attract and engage students, overseeing daily operations for assigned programs, and collaborating with departments across Booth. Coaches individual students and student teams across all developmental programs and supports the development of students’ capacities as leaders. This includes managing action-learning teams of student leaders while serving as a subject matter expert, providing individual coaching, feedback, and support to students, and mastering and utilizing class frameworks within coaching conversations. Delivers high-impact workshops grounded in learning from experience. This includes communicating relevant content in a clear, vivid, and engaging fashion, facilitating experiential learning exercises in-person, and drawing on a strong knowledge base concerning the practical dimensions of leading. Contributes to the quality of the student experience at Booth. This includes offering perspective concerning the student experience at Booth. It also includes offering insight concerning how to improve the student experience and ways in which the LDO can better engage the broader life of the Booth community in meaningful ways. A minimum of four years of work experience in a related job discipline required. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required. Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, as well as organizational skills required. Ability to work independently with little supervision; possess a self-motivated disposition; identify opportunities for improvement and recommend effective changes, all while achieving key objectives resulting in desired outcomes required. Excellent strategic planning, critical thinking, analytical, and facilitation skills required. Ability to handle multiple detailed tasks/projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, as well as with students, faculty and corporate contacts in a multitude of communication methods i.e., in person, email, phone required. Professional demeanor, including tact, discretion, and a customer service-oriented approach required. Preferred Experience developing others (i.e., facilitating others’ growth) preferred. Experience with both large and small group facilitation preferred. Logistics and event planning experience preferred. Experience with leadership coaching preferred.
