Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer
Location: Onsite, Greater ABQ, NM region
Type: Full-time, Direct Hire
About the Role: LHH is seeking a highly experienced Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer to play a critical leadership role in the development and integration of advanced high-altitude platform systems. This is a senior, hands-on technical position intended to serve as the principal technical partner to the Head of Systems Engineering, with long-term potential for growth.
Key Responsibilities: - Serve as a senior technical authority supporting system architecture, integration, and execution of high-altitude platform systems
- Partner closely with the Head of Systems Engineering to strengthen the systems engineering function
- Lead system-level architecture definition, modeling, and documentation from concept through integration and flight readiness
- Drive requirements development, allocation, verification, and validation across hardware, software, electrical, and operational domains
- Ensure alignment with industry systems engineering standards and best practices
- Lead system-level trade studies, risk assessments, and technical decision-making
- Coordinate complex technical interfaces across multidisciplinary engineering teams and external stakeholders
- Support system integration, test planning, and execution, including participation in test readiness and flight readiness reviews
- Contribute to configuration management, verification planning, and design assurance activities
- Mentor and technically guide systems engineers, raising overall engineering rigor and maturity
- Support continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, tools, and best practices
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field
- 10+ years of aerospace systems engineering experience, with deep expertise in requirements management, system integration, verification and validation, and configuration management
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry systems engineering standards and principles
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems, data buses, and system architectures
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and systems modeling tools (e.g., DOORS, Cameo, SysML)
- Proven track record of leading or managing complex aerospace systems with multiple interfaces and stakeholders
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and technical leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience with high-altitude platforms, satellites, UAVs, or other aerospace systems
- Flight operations experience or participation in flight test campaigns
- Industry certification (e.g., INCOSE CSEP or ASEP)
- Background in system safety analysis (FMEA, FTA)
- Experience supporting design and technical reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR)
- Familiarity with environmental testing, including EMI/EMC, thermal-vacuum, and vibration testing
Pay Details: $140,000.00 to $185,000.00 per year
