Senior Network & Cloud Security Engineer (Firewall / Azure)

Work Arrangement: Remote (Within USA)

Location: Remote – U.S. Based

Duration: 12-month contract (40 hrs/week; 2,088 total hours )
Engagement Type: W-2 only

Overview

The Client is seeking a Senior Technical Engineer IV to serve as a subject matter expert across firewall engineering, cloud network architecture, and Azure infrastructure security . This role provides advanced technical leadership in the design, implementation, and support of secure, scalable infrastructure solutions supporting enterprise systems.

The engineer will partner closely with Technology leadership, senior engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, compliant, and future-ready network and cloud platforms. This position combines architecture, engineering, hands-on delivery, and mentorship , making it ideal for a senior technical professional who thrives in complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Engineering

• Design and implement secure network and cloud infrastructure solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
• Lead firewall engineering , cloud networking, and Azure-based infrastructure initiatives.
• Define architecture, standards, policies, and best practices for supported technologies.
• Evaluate new or expanded systems and recommend technology improvements.

Technical Delivery

• Perform system analysis, design, unit testing, integration, and user acceptance testing.
• Translate complex business requirements into structured, high-quality technical implementations.
• Coordinate vendor interactions and external technical resources as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues across environments.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work directly with business and technology partners to clarify requirements and solution approaches.
• Provide consultation and technical guidance to engineers and support teams.
• Mentor and coach less experienced engineers and review proposed solutions.

Governance & Risk

• Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and risk standards.
• Follow and promote industry best practices and internal controls.
• Maintain strong knowledge of enterprise technology trends and vendor platforms.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years combined education and/or experience in systems design, infrastructure engineering, or architecture
• Strong understanding of system development and infrastructure lifecycle management
• Hands-on experience in:
• Firewall engineering
• Cloud network engineering
• Microsoft Azure infrastructure
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• Experience designing infrastructure for complex enterprise or regulated environments
• Advanced expertise in network security, virtualization, and hybrid cloud architectures
• Experience influencing technical standards and mentoring teams
