Special Education Teacher (Moderate/Severe)

Northern California Preparatory School (NCPS), an education site of Point Quest Group, is seeking a Special Education Teacher (Moderate/Severe) to join our specialized middle and high school program in Sacramento, California. Our students include adolescents with high-functioning autism (Type 1) and co-occurring mental health needs. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals

• Design and deliver specialized academic instruction for students with moderate to severe disabilities

• Foster a structured, predictable, and supportive classroom environment

• Collaborate with related service providers, behavioral teams, and families

• Support students' social and emotional growth through embedded SEL strategies

• Track and document academic and behavioral progress

• Participate in IEP meetings and maintain compliance with state and federal regulations

• Support crisis intervention and behavior management strategies as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s degree in Special Education or related field (preferred)

• Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Moderate/Severe) or eligibility to obtain

• Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders and emotional/behavioral challenges

• Knowledge of evidence-based practices and curriculum adaptations for students with moderate/severe needs

• Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Experience in a nonpublic school or alternative education setting is a plus

Physical Requirements:

• Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes

• Frequent reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs

• Normal vision and hearing, with or without correction
