Clayton Services is searching for a Title Clerk to join a thriving company in the West Houston area. The Title Clerk will be responsible for processing vehicle titles and registrations, handling car deal documentation, verifying costs, and ensuring timely and accurate submissions to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Job Type: Temporary
Pay Rate: $20.00-$23.00/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 to 5:00 pm
Assignment Length: Expected to last approximately three (3) months
Benefits: Medical once eligible

Title Clerk Responsibilities:
  • Process car deals by verifying the completeness of all documentation.
  • Verify costs for the accounting department, including reconditioning, equipment add-ons, and related expenses.
  • Handle legal transfer of ownership documents for state DMV requirements.
  • Verify data, complete state forms, calculate and disburse taxes and fees, and submit documentation to the state.
  • Process new vehicle sales through WebDealer and Vitu, including out-of-state titling.
  • Maintain follow-up on all incoming MCOs/Titles and track outstanding or missing documents.
  • Maintain and reconcile schedules for tax, title, license payable, and wholesale transactions.
  • Identify internal control issues and report policy or procedure concerns to the Controller.
  • Communicate with banks and customers to obtain missing titles or required documentation.
  • Process refund checks, print stickers, and prepare paperwork for customer pickup.
  • Assist other title clerks as needed.
  • Maintain a consistent and reliable work schedule.
  • Uphold ethical business practices and represent the company with integrity.
  • Perform duties safely and follow company procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Title Clerk Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with WebDealer, Vitu, and standard office software preferred.
  • Customer service–oriented with a professional demeanor.

Title Clerk Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous automotive title clerk experience preferred.
  • Experience with state DMV processes, titling systems, and vehicle registration strongly preferred.
