Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring a VA or compact license, 2 years of experience, and advanced critical care skills including CRRT.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at a Level II Trauma Center
• Care for trauma, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, and complicated surgical patients
• Patient ratios are typically 1:2-3 in SICU and 1:3-4 if floating to stepdown
• Shift is 3x12hr days from 7:00 to 19:00
• Requires working every other weekend
• Floating within scope to other units or affiliate hospitals may be required
• Uses Epic for charting; Epic experience is preferred
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Responsibilities include care of patients with diagnoses such as ventilator dependence, severe sepsis, trauma, DKA, COVID+ with high O2 demand, unstable GI bleed, post code blue, open heart recovery, TAVR recovery, and multi-system organ failure
• No travel pairs are allowed on the SICU unit
• Holiday time-off requests will not be approved
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Must complete up to 8 hours of onboarding modules within one week of signing
• Must be separated from previous staff employment at this health system by at least one year to be eligible

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active VA or compact RN license
• Current ACLS and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of recent SICU or ICU experience
• Demonstrated CRRT proficiency required, plus at least one additional skill among IABP, Impella, or EVD Drain
• Strong skills in management of dysrhythmias, arterial lines, blood product administration, and ventilator care
