Vice President, Business Development, Search & Evaluation

Position Summary The ideal candidate will possess scientific expertise and business development leadership experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. They will lead a team that searches, evaluates, and conducts due diligence on novel therapeutic opportunities across oncology, hematology, neuroscience, cardiovascular, immunology, and cell therapy. The role requires strong communication, stakeholder management, and talent development skills to support highvisibility, timesensitive projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead S&E efforts for BD opportunities in HOCT and ICN areas.
  • Manage internal strategic prioritization of opportunities with input from research, development, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Direct strategy of scientific diligence on priority active opportunities and challenge teams on key assumptions.
  • Oversee talent allocation and prioritization of effort across S&E priorities.
  • Maintain strategic dialogue with key stakeholders to anticipate evolving priorities.
  • Influence enterprise and therapeutic area priorities based on input from the global biotech ecosystem.
  • Manage scientific conference focus and team travel priorities to position BD and enterprise competitively.
  • Keep current on scientific and clinical data trends in core therapeutic areas and key adjacencies.
  • Collaborate with SVP Business Development and other BD leaders to share information and facilitate workflow prioritization.
  • Present and articulate merits and diligence findings to Csuite audiences.
  • Serve as a thought partner to key stakeholders, bringing scientific perspectives and leading crossfunctional teams.
  • Shape S&E focus strategy in collaboration with TA leadership, formulating external viewpoints on emerging mechanisms of action and new modalities.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and scientific rigor while collaborating closely with internal and external partners.
  • Develop talent within the S&E team, coaching members on core skill sets and fostering their growth and career development.
  • Champion continuous improvement of the S&E process and lead change management when needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MD, PhD, PharmD, or other advanced degree in the biomedical field required.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant business experience in the biopharmaceutical industry or related biotech/healthcare practice.
  • Extensive experience identifying, assessing, and leading due diligence of external opportunities in a business development or equivalent function.
  • Consistently delivers on commitments in a timely manner.
  • Profound understanding of the underlying science in Oncology and Hematology therapeutic areas, with knowledge of preclinical drug discovery, clinical development, and regulatory processes.
  • Strong peoplemanagement skills and a passion for coaching and developing talent.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and influencing skills with executive presence and gravitas.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate ideas and motivate others to accomplish challenging goals and objectives.
  • Deep scientific curiosity and commitment to advancing therapeutic innovation that provides better treatment options for patients.

Compensation Overview

$299,200 $362,560
Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. Final compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
